Megan Thee Stallion‘s request for a protective order against Tory Lanez was granted, according to court documents obtained by ABC Audio Friday.
Judge Richard Bloom confirmed the order in the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles Thursday based on “unlawful violence, a credible threat of violence, or stalking.” It protects Meg, born Megan Pete, from Tory, who is required to stay at least 100 yards away from her, her home, her car and her job or workplace.
Tory, born Daystar Peterson, is prohibited from directly or indirectly contacting Megan in any way and taking any action to find out where she’s located, per the terms of the order. He also must not “harass, intimidate, molest, attack, strike, stalk, threaten, assault (sexually or otherwise), hit, abuse, destroy personal property of, or disturb” Meg’s peace.
The protective order expires on Jan. 9, 2030, five years after it was granted. Failure to comply with the terms can result in up to one year in jail, a fine of up to $1,000 or both.
Meg’s restraining order comes less than a month after she filed a petition against Tory, who is currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting her in July 2020. In it, she’d accused him of harassing her through the “use of third party online ‘bloggers'” to undermine the release of her Prime Video documentary, Megan Thee Stallion: Her Words.
“Even from behind bars, Mr. Peterson continues to terrorize Ms. Pete,” her lawyers wrote in the petition, noting the harassment “has caused her severe emotional distress and reputational harm.”
“Mr. Peterson is fully aware of the impact of the psychological warfare he has waged against Ms. Pete, yet he continues to deputize his supporters to attack Ms. Pete’s character and integrity,” the petition argued.
Tory denied the allegations.
